    Anna had to write a little bit about what kind of Queen she would be and this is the story she came up with.  I let her do all the spelling and didn't guide her in any way.  I was pleased that she spelled "would" correctly and super surprised that she spelled "people" correctly since that's such an oddly spelled word.  I asked her how she knew that there was an "o" in it and she shrugged and said that she wasn't sure, that maybe she saw it somewh...

    We just finished up our Kindergarten math curriculum, Rightstart Level A.  Anna did really great with it and it's amazing to see how far she's come since we started it last September.  When we started she couldn't write all of her numbers, maybe not even half of them.  She definitely couldn't add any numbers together.  I believe that she was already counting pretty high, maybe even to 100 at that point, but she definitely wasn't doing any sk...

    Anna wrote her first story last week: "Craig and the Snake."  This story was based off of our current reader, "Fred the Frog."  "Fred the Frog" was about a boy named Craig who found a frog and decided to keep him.  The frog got loose and wreaked havoc in the house.  Part of one of our Language Arts lessons was to write a story about what might happen if Craig had found a snake.  This is what Anna came up with.  I helped her spell "...
